Today was an importabnt day for me personally, as it was the first opportunity for Acklam Grange School pupils to see at first hand the building project that we had funded at Lesiraa School. The visit this morning was just a short one, but we managed to squeeze in a football match, (for the record - England 0 - Tanzania 0), and we took great pleasure in handing over thwe 'Boro strip that we had been wearing to the Lesiraa team at the end of the match.
This afternoon we visited Einoti Secondary School, where the whole school came out to watch the volleyball match. We drew 2 sets all, and then had the magical experience of being seated like royals on a platform overlooking the school as the pupils sang their school song to us - it was sung in superb harmony, and was truly memorable.

Well haven’t written anything for a while so sorry. Gawd these last few days have been total chaos but as peter keeps saying its all part of the adventure haha. Well we were at the border of Tanzania and Kenya we struggled with a few minor problems which then escalated in to a biggie. In the end they wouldn’t let us travel into Tanzania as it was to dangerous therefore they let us camp outside the police post with armed guards looking after us. Finally the next morning we were on our way until a man on his bike crashed into the side of our big green unmissable truck which ment another trip to a police station. That set us back a few hours which ment we were late arriving to ngorro ngorro crater where we had to camp outside in the wild. Well not long left now just visited Lesiraa this morning and had a game of football 0-0 good game we swapped shirts at the end was amazing. This week is going to fly so cant wait to see you all again J missing you all
Love you lots and lots like jelly tots xxxxx

Jambo everyone (Jambo means hello) Sorry about not really being in contact but the laptop battery has been low and we havnt really had chance to go to the internet café either. I E-mailed yesterday so hopefully you got that. Mam if Amy rings please can you tell her I’ve tried emailing her but it keeps telling me there is an error, unless she has got the website address then she can read it for herself lol. Same for Rachael as well lol. Anyway having a really good time, the weather is absolutely boiling most of the time and its Winter in Africa!
You might read the dairy entries Peter has posted about what we have done each day, try not to panic to much haha, everyone is fine we just encountered a lot of problems over the last few days! I will explain all when I get home. My camera battery ran out the other day but I’ve managed to charge it now and I’ve got some good photos of some Lions (you would’t believe how close we got to them!) and loads of other animals as well. Tell Grandma we are going to the Elephant orphanage on Wednesday before we come home so I will take loads of photos! Some of the things we have done have been fantastic like going to the Serengeti and Masai Mara and we went to Leisiraa school today as well as another school.
Anyway I best leave it at that for the minute because other people have to write their diary entries.
Missing everyone loads and will see you soon.

Before I start…Happy Birthday Dad!!! Even though it was days ago J well, talk about Friday the 13th bringing bad luck. The past few days have been really bad, spending about 13 hours on the truck (known as The Hulk). Felt extremely travel sick. I blame it on the bumpy “roads” myself. Spending a night in the grounds of the Tanzanian police port wasn’t quite on the itinerary. In tents of 3 with armed protection. Fun fun fun!! Then knocking down an African on a bike not long after leaving the police port the next day. Quite eventful! The schools we have visited have been amazing though. Its great to see the faces of the pupils when you give them gifts. I cried at the first school we visited. The food is not what I expected at all. We had spag bol on the first night!! I think I’ve actually put on weight rather then losing it like everyone expected. Slept out in the bush the other night when we couldn’t get out of the Serengeti. Hyenas proved to be quite entertaining! The long drop toilets are pretty horrific. Id rather go in a bush any day. The weather has been treating us well, although it didn’t rain in the rain forest. I’m not sunburnt though. To tell the truth I’m not really tanning. Coming back white and fat instead of thin and brown like expected. But oh well! Going shopping tomorrow to get supplies for Lesiraa school. Cant wait. Haven’t been homesick yet. The tiredness causes stress though. The second week was tough for everybody. But now it’s the last week the moods seems to have lightened. I think people just want to make the most of it before the journey back home. Well, I cant really think of what to put. So much has happened since the last entry I did on the plane to Nairobi! Ill tell you all about it when I get back though. Miss you all!! By the way, Africa is 2 hours ahead of England J

Heyyyy Mam, Dad and Jen!
Hope you’re having a good time on holiday! I bet you’re lonely without me though! Loads has happened the past few weeks, it’s been a right adventure!! We’ve slept outside a police station on the Tanzanian border, knocked a man on a bike over, slept in the middle of nowhere surrounded by hyenas, suffered several truck breakdowns… the list goes on! It’s been fun though! We’ve visited a few schools along the way, those have been some of the best bit, it’s so strange seeing their schools compared to ours and how much they want to meet us!
See you all soon! Love Suzanne xx
Jambo again everyone
Had an interesting few days to say the least starting with our gas problem at Nakumatt supermarket that meant a 4 hour sit in the truck waiting for our grace and Jason -our guide and our truck driver- to find some. The 2nd problem was at our 2nd visit to Nakumatt when we had sum truck technical difficulties involving the brakes. When we finally got going we headed to the Tanzania/Kenya border to be greeted by the corruption of Tanzania. We spent 4 hours waiting while the border officials tried to cheat us out of as much money as we could, telling us that the road we were about to use was dangerous and would require and escort that would require paying for. Peter wouldn’t accept this and demanded that we be allowed to camp freely next to the border police station. The next day, our 1st day in Tanzania, was just as eventful when a biker pulled out in front of the truck. At the back of the bus we weren’t sure what had happened but had heard the loud bang and felt the truck skid to a halt, followed by peter running out of the truck with the first aid kit. Luckily the man was ok and only required some patching up but this wasn’t our main problem, we had to go to another police station were all the adults where required to make a statement. After another hour and a half of waiting Emma came back to tell us the biker had made us pay for his bike and all the hospital expenses. Our final problem was in the Serengeti national park where we got halfway through, miles away from civilisation, and the truck broke down so we had to make camp in the dark with lions and hyenas metres from the tents. After all the problems we had our final safari in the Landrovers in the Ngororo crater. It was great fun sticking our heads out of the roof and I’m planning on taking a saw to the roof of my dads Landrover when I get back. Having great fun even with the problems but cant wait to get home and tell everyone about it

Jambo buana! I hope it’s raining in Middlesbrough ;) LOL only joking but just to let you all know that the weather is fabulous here! The last couple of days have been pretty hectic and tiring, with sleeping outside police stations on the border and avoiding getting ambushed and all of that… yes it’s true I’ll tell you the full story when I get back! Also, nearly getting eaten by a hyena when I went for a wee in a bush, these things happen to the best of us! Anyways apart from a heck of a lot of travelling and a delayed itinerary this week has been really good seeing loads of animals and birds and experiencing camping in “the bush” quite a lot- not having a shower for nearly 5 days I’m afraid :S The highlight for me has been the Ngorororororororo crater cos we got to travel in jeeps with no roofs and stick our head out and see the “microcosm of African wildlife”- it was such a good experience and we saw the animals really close up! Today we arrived at the Meserani Snake Park and visited Lesiraa school for the first time- it was really quite shocking being there finally after seeing so many pictures of the school and it was a real experience. We also visited a secondary school close by and played volleyball against them, the kids were all really nice and sang a song to us it was amazing! Anyway I’m about to fall asleep so lala salama- hope Norway is good M and D!

Hi all,
Hope everyone’s okay. Having a really good time here. We are staying at the Meserani Snake Park at the moment which is really nice. We’ve done some of game drives so I’ve got loads of mint pics of animals! In the first few days of the trip we went to a primary school called Longonot. I met this girl who attached herself to me while we were there. It was unbelievable how amazed the children were by us.
We went to Nkuru town to see the market – what an experience! From the moment our truck stopped in the parking area we were surrounded by Africans selling jewellery and curios. As we walked through the town people would pull us over to their stalls to try and sell anything they could to us. It was scary but really funny!
Kisi was another funny experience. We stopped there to get some more food and four of us went to the market with Peter and our guide Grace. The market was completely different to anything I’ve seen in England. There were stalls cramped together everywhere we looked and in the middle of it all was a huge rubbish pile with goats and cows wandering around. Whilst we were buying some meat a fight broke out between two men and later we were hassled by someone looking for money! It was weird!
This morning we visited Lesiraa school for the first time. It was really good to see the classrooms that Acklam Grange had funded. We played a football match against there own team. Tomorrow we are taken the Head Teacher out shopping with $2000 that we raised back at home to buy various things for the school. In the afternoon we went to another school called Einoti. We were given seats and the school gathered in straight queues in front of us. They sang their school song for us, it was brilliant!
Must go – laptop battery running out. Will write more later.
