Up at 5.30 to walk to a lookout point and watch the sunrise over the forest canopy. As the red ball of fire emerged, a cacophony of sound arose from the rainforest below us. An amazing experience. The drums were beating in the background – we were told that today was bullfighting day.
After a short nature walk through the forest we returned to our camp in the forest clearing for pancakes and maple syrup – and the ubiquitous bananas.
An afternoon drive took us to the Kericho Tea Hotel, and we camped in their grounds. An afternoon walk into the town of Kericho showed us a true African town scenario, and some of us found it quite intimidating being the only white people there.
We swapped trucks and crew, and welcomed Grace (the guide), Jason (the driver) and Jeff the chef. Our new truck is the business.
